Frank + Jane provides students with an opportunity to develop their interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by engaging them with the built environment. Civil engineering, architecture, city planning and construction are growing fields that many students do not immediately think of when considering their own futures. Frank + Jane is unique and sets a global precedent in its design-build format, allowing students to see their project through from concept to reality. 

Careers in civil engineering and architecture have the singular ability to impact urban life in both abstract and concrete ways. Decisions to alter the built environment not only physically change the space, but can have economic, social, educational and political ramifications as well. By having students take their designs beyond drawing, they are provided the unique opportunity to see how their own ideas can be brought to life within their community and impact the lives of their friends, family, and the city at large.
